In the Vietnam War it became a symbol of Hanoi's resistance to relentless US bombing.

   Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum & Temple of Literature

   Visit the Mausoleum and the stilt-house garden, the final resting place of Vietnam's national hero President Ho Chi Minh, where he lived off and on from 1958 to 1969. Then visit the Temple of Literature, regarded as the very first university in Vietnam, where worship was offered to Confucius — the founder of Confucianism and the main platform of social morals and culture throughout many feudal dynasties in Vietnam.

   A limousine bus takes you to the Hoa Lo Prison Relic, one of the five scariest places in Southeast Asia. See how the French tortured political prisoners and the efforts of Vietnamese political prisoners during their stay here, as well as American pilots shot down from 1964 to 1973 who called this prison the "Hanoi Hilton Hotel". McCain, a U.S. senator, was also detained here until 1973.

We try to make the pick-ups as timely as possible but with morning traffic in the Old Quarter and many hotels to collect from this time is approximate. Please be ready to help expedite this process.

2. 10:00 – 10:15

   Short Lavatory Break

   Quick rest stop halfway to stretch your legs, use the facilities, or grab a quick snack in case you missed breakfast (our driver appreciates a coffee break as well!) before we get back on the road and finish the drive.

3. 11:30 – 11:45

   Boarding the Cruise

   The bus will arrive at Tuan Chau marina and reach our pier, where our welcoming staff will be waiting for your arrival with a big smile. A complimentary welcome drink will be served, and a quick briefing as we set off into the bay.

4. 12:00 – 13:00

   Lunch On Board

   Our award-winning chef will be serving up amazing delights for guests to indulge. Paired beautifully with lavish cocktails, fine wines, and beers. The bar will be open for the entirety of the service. (Water is served throughout the journey; any other drinks not mentioned will incur charges.)

   Kayaking or Bamboo Boat to the Bright – Dark Cave

   We will spend a 1-hour round trip paddling through a little grotto and into our private lagoon, surrounded by rock walls in all directions. It is a peaceful little corner of Halong Bay all to ourselves. The tour guide will tell the folklore of Halong Bay before paddling back to the boat.

6. 15:15 – 15:45

   Frog Pond, Swimming – Lan Ha Bay

   Enjoy the trampoline, water slide, go for a swim, or just stay on the boat and relax in Lan Ha Bay. You will have 1 hour to enjoy the sand between your toes. So, relax and take a few moments to reflect on the absolute beauty of this natural wonder of the world.

7. 16:00

   Cooking Demonstration

   Learn the history of a traditional Vietnamese dish that is the most famous. From the fresh ingredients to the preparation method, and then have a try at making them yourselves. You will be able to make Vietnamese summer rolls in your own kitchen after this informative and fun course.

8. 16:30

   Sunset Ceremony – Tea, Cakes

   Complimentary Vietnamese teas, fresh fruit, and little cakes to keep you satisfied until you return to Hanoi. While the sunset starts to drop and the sky fills with deep red, purple, and yellow, enjoy the return sail back.

9. 17:45 – 18:00

   Disembark – Limousine

   We dock at the harbor, get back onto the Limousine, and go on the highway. A quick stop halfway, and back to Hanoi.

   Cycling & Local Family (Tam Coc)

   Take a bike and ride around the village to explore the rice fields surrounded by limestone mountains, then visit a traditional local family of three generations in the Tam Coc area.

   Local-cuisine Lunch

   Enjoy a special lunch prepared with the traditional cuisine featuring the yin-yang balance of Asian culture.

5. 14:00

   Tam Coc Sampan

   After lunch, continue with a sampan rowed by a local for about 1.5 hours to explore Tam Coc, “Halong Bay on land” — a peaceful journey along the Ngo Dong River past limestone mountains, caves and rice paddies (golden during harvest season).

6. 16:30

   Hoa Lu Ancient Capital

   Arrive in Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam in the 10th century, and visit the temple of King Dinh with our local guide.

7. 17:30

   Return to Hanoi

   Leave Ninh Binh and drive straight back to Hanoi.

8. 19:00 – 19:30

   Arrive in Hanoi

   Drop-off at your hotel or private address in the Hanoi Old Quarter. Trip ends.
