   Long Bien Bridge

   Visit a Hanoi icon in all senses: the Long Bien Bridge, formerly known as the Paul Doumer Bridge, was one of the greatest engineering accomplishments of the French colony and a showpiece of colonial infrastructure. In the Vietnam War it became a symbol of Hanoi's resistance to relentless US bombing.

4. 09:00

   Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum & Temple of Literature

   Visit the Mausoleum and the stilt-house garden, the final resting place of Vietnam's national hero President Ho Chi Minh, where he lived off and on from 1958 to 1969. Then visit the Temple of Literature, regarded as the very first university in Vietnam, where worship was offered to Confucius — the founder of Confucianism and the main platform of social morals and culture throughout many feudal dynasties in Vietnam.

   Museum of Vietnamese Ethnology

   Visit the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnology. This superb museum showcases the depth of Vietnamese cultural diversity with an astounding collection of 15,000 artifacts gathered from throughout Vietnam.

7. 15:30

   Hoa Lo Prison

   A limousine bus takes you to the Hoa Lo Prison Relic, one of the five scariest places in Southeast Asia. See how the French tortured political prisoners and the efforts of Vietnamese political prisoners during their stay here, as well as American pilots shot down from 1964 to 1973 who called this prison the "Hanoi Hilton Hotel". McCain, a U.S. senator, was also detained here until 1973.

8. 17:00

   Old Quarter by Cyclo

   Explore the Old Quarter in 1 hour, cruising through the iconic 36 Streets on a cyclo — a traditional three-wheeled bicycle taxi — passing iconic landmarks such as Hoan Kiem Lake, Dong Xuan Market, St. Joseph's Cathedral and Hanoi Opera House. Immerse yourself in the colourful local culture.
